The Nikki Patin Project features various performance themes designed to push the cultural envelope and encourage new artmaking:

Hourlong Urged Education (HUE)
Hourlong Urged Education or HUE highlights music, literature and art from amazing artists who are flying under the radar of the cultural mainstream, as well as knowledge on who they are, where to find them and how to support their work. Special emphasis is given to Chicago artists and marginalized artists who are creating powerful work. HUE seeks to bring the colors of the fringe to the forefront.

“The re: appropriation Show”

The music of people of color is often covered or appropriated by White artists, without much credit or money given to the people and cultures who created the music originally. “The re: appropriation Show” features musicians/vocalists of color, in collaboration with White musicians, who cover or “re-appropriate” music written by White artists. “The re: appropriation Show” pokes a bit of fun at the notion of owning sound and flips perceptions of who should play what.

Dubtext

Dubtext is ancient verse over modern beats. Utilizing literature with rigid rhyme structure, Dubtext layers the words of writers like Omar Khayyam and Edgar Allen Poe over electronic beats, live music and all sonic points in between.
